I’ve already reviewed a pair of Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey, and in that review, I mentioned that those were a retro. Here I have the original Air Jordan 11 Cool Grey, which was not an original colorway but a new version released in 2001.
Instead of mesh uppers, the Cool Grey XI go for a suede look on top of the traditional patent leather toebox and mudguard.
I can’t lie, I’m a sucker for neutral colorway shoes, you can do so much with them and basically rock them any time. These Air Jordan 11s are no exception! You can see how beat up my pair is, yet they still are going strong and now have a lot of character. The materials are truly top notch on these older Jordans, and my only qualm is that the midsole has started to separate due to age. I’ve been able to glue it so that it is wearable, but basically the only way to have avoided this on a shoe this age would have been to purchase a pair that had been worn regularly so that the glues had not been given a chance to dry out. These just weren’t made to last forever!
I definitely went true to size on these as the patent leather toebox guarantees a snug fit. A half size down would have been killing my toes! That said, you should definitely look for a pair of these for the collection, or at least cop the newer retro. I think no Air Jordan collection is complete without a pair of cool greys!
